Mid-week Walk and Christmas lunch

The decision to do a low level short walk was spot on given the high winds and hailstone during the morning. 13 members met for coffee at Wilfs in Staveley before setting off on the short walk up to Reston Scar, one of Wainwrights Outlying Fells. Then on to Hugill Head and a welcome drop down to the Kentmere valley and a rest from the wind, followed by lunch at the excellent Eagle and Child.
Thanks to Mick for the excellent short walk

Evening Moonlight Walk

10 members braved a very indifferent forecast to meet up on the front at Arnside. We needn't have worrried as the evening was fine with even stars appearing. A lovely walk up the through the woods from New Barns found us at the entrance to Heathwaite Cave which had to be entered. A quick exploration inside revealed a Geocache box. Then back out of the cave and up onto the summit of the Knott and its trig point.

A drink in the Albion rounded off a great evening with surprising weather and views. Thanks to Mike & Cath

The cave is also a Gouache site, so Josh insisted on bringing out the box to examine its contents before placing it back inside.
